How to Find Us
Where is the Paddle Diva SUP Center?
It can be tricky to find the Shagwong Marina. You can find good driving directions HERE, and if you use a GPS use this link to get an accurate location on your map application.
Do I need to have good balance?
Absolutely not! If you can walk, you can stand up paddle. After one lesson with an ASI-certified Paddle Diva instructor, you will leave any hesitation and fear on the beach!
What is the difference between a lesson and a tour and how long do they last?
Lessons are the perfect way for novices to get started. They last 1-1/2 hours with approximately 15-30 minutes of prep and instruction on the beach followed by an hour out on the water. Take as many lessons are you’d like till you “graduate” to our SUP Group Paddles or SUP Adventure Tours, which are for experienced paddlers only. Tours also last 1-1/2 hour, but as there is no need to provide instruction we get out on the water faster and travel at a slightly fast pace.
What should I wear?
Summer: Bathing suit, sun protection, hat and a rash guard (it acts a sun protection, and looks cool. We sell Paddle Diva Rash Guards.)
Fall/Spring: A 3.2 wetsuit is recommended, but not mandatory; booties that are 3 ml in thickness, hat, sunscreen and a dry change of clothes. If you do not have a wet suit, then any type of non-cotton workout clothing will do.
What does it cost?
SUP Lessons and Group Paddle Tours are $75 (buy a class card that works for all our lessons and classes and the price goes down to $60) – we provide the board. SUP Adventure Paddles and any special event paddles (like our annual Mothers’ Day Paddle and Full Moon Paddle) are priced differently. Check the SUP Adventure Paddles and individual SUP Events listing for pricing.
I am not in great shape, can I still try to SUP?
Being “not in great shape” is exactly the reason you must try stand up paddling! This sport is easy to learn helps your build up your core and overall body strength gradually. It is so addictive and fun that while you are out on the water paddling, you are getting in shape without even knowing it.
Can I bring my kids?
Yes, we have classes for kids ages 10 and up. Kids under 10 are welcome to ride on an instructor’s board while you take your lesson, as long as they wear a life jacket. Not interested in bringing your children? We can arrange for beach babysitting right along the shore of the shallow and protected waters of Three Mile Harbor bay. There is plenty of open space and grassy lawns for your kids to play under supervision.
Is the SUP Center handicapped accessible?
YES! Adults and children with developmental challenges or physical disabilities or who are interesting in trying some form of SUP are encouraged! The SUP Center is accessible, and if we are made aware of the circumstances we can have staff on hand who can assist with special needs children or limited-mobility adults.
I want to buy a cheap, used stand up paddle board. Any recommendations?
Unfortunately, this sport is still in its infancy and as a woman and/or a beginner, the worst thing to do is buy an old used board. There are many well-designed, lighter and easier-to-carry boards on the market today. We recommend you spend a season stand up paddling with Paddle Diva (or rent one of our SUP boards if you want to paddle on your own) to find out what you like and don’t like about the gear. Then you can make a smart, sound decision when it comes time to buy your own SUP board.
Does Paddle Diva sell SUP boards?
Yes, Paddle Diva sells a wide variety of stand up paddle boards, including Riviera, SUP Love and Boga boards.
We sell SUP boards for the entire family, and our waterfront location at Shagwong Marina on Three Mile Harbor allows you to “try before you buy.”
We also work with our partners at Nature Shapes to craft custom Diva SUP Boards. Built especially for women, but we make them for men and kids too!
